Privacy

This is a small personal blog. It doesn't have accounts or ads, and it doesn't sell or share anything about you.

Cookies

This site doesn't set any cookies of its own. Embedded players from Spotify, YouTube, SoundCloud and Bandcamp are run by those services. They may set their own cookies, under their own privacy policies. YouTube videos are embedded in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode.

Analytics

Page visits are measured with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies or track you across sites. It reports totals like page views, countries and browser types.

View counts

The view count on each post is an anonymous running total. Your browser remembers which posts you've viewed during the current session, so a reload doesn't count twice. To stop one visitor inflating the numbers, the server keeps a one-way hash of your IP address (never the address itself) for up to two days, then deletes it.

Comments

Commenting only asks for a name, which can be anything you like. The site stores the name you give, your comment and when you posted it. To fight spam, it also keeps a one-way hash of your IP address with the comment for 30 days, then clears it. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you're human when you post; it doesn't use cookies to track you. Comments may be removed by the site owner.

Votes

To count one vote per person, your browser creates a random ID and keeps it in local storage. The server only stores a one-way hash of it, which can't be linked back to you. Clearing your browser's site data resets it.

Deleted posts

When a post is removed, its view count, comments and votes are deleted automatically after 30 days.

Getting something removed

If you'd like a comment you wrote taken down, reply to it asking, or get in touch with Andy and say which post it was on.
